How to Live Curiously – PART II
As I mentioned in the inaugural “How to Live Curiously” post, I believe two things.
1. Most people want to live curiously.
2. Most people do not live curiously.
I am determined to battle this truth!
Are you ready for three more principles that people who are trying to live curiously weave into the fabric of their lives?
1. Live in the now.
My fear is that in our fast paced, constantly connected world, we end up living so much in the future that we neglect the now. I have spent far too much of my life not being fully present in the now. My mind loves to dream forward and often that causes me to skim moments and miss creating memories that are right in front of me. When I live too fully in the future, I suffer, my family and friends suffer, and my future suffers because my memories are weak. Don’t miss this … living in the future leaves you with shallow experiences which lead to weak memories. To live a curious life means to be fully engaged and present in the now … right now!

John 15:4 – Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can’t bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can’t bear fruit unless you are joined with me.
3. Adopt a “We Get To Do This” attitude.
The bottom line is you don’t have to … take your kids to school, go to work, go to a movie with your friends, eat lunch with another family or preach on the weekend. You do not HAVE TO DO any of these things, you GET TO DO these things. Seriously, count how many times this week you say “I have to” and make a mental note to replace that phrase with “I get to!”

What do you believe it means to “live curiously?”

December 4, 2014Thanks for starting this blog Todd. I think you are right on the money. Too many people just do their normal, every day routine and before you know it a year has gone by! We need to be positive, live in the moment, live each day in a positive, thoughtful manner. Looking forward to what the next post will be 🙂

December 5, 2014Last night my two year old got sick in my bed. I was up most of the night with him and thought about how tired I would be today. But then I realized what a blessing it is to have healthy children that are sick occasionally and how lucky I am to be able to care for him. Love this reframing…we are blessed to GET to do so many things!!

December 15, 2014I have mostly weak memories, even from childhood. I’m tired of those. I want strong, vibrant, and NEW ones. 🙂 Thanks for the reminder.
