Two ways your life is exactly like a Super Bowl Commercial

Here is the number one Super Bowl ad of all time …

 1. Coke – “Hey Kid, Catch!” (1979)

Before we get to more of my picks for the Top 10 Super Bowl ads of all time at the end of this article…

Your life is like a Super Bowl commercial for two reasons.

Reason #1 – Your life is advertising, promoting, supporting, and endorsing something every single day.

Do you want to know how to tell exactly what you’re advertising?

Follow the trail of your money and your time.
Where do you spend your money?
Where do you spend your time?

Whatever you find at the end of those two trails is what your life is advertising.

Make no mistake about it … your life is advertising something every single day.

Reason #2 – Some lives are easy to remember while others are easy to forget.

“So God made a farmer” is one of the most memorable commercials in recent years. The reason it is memorable is because with well chosen words and images it points our minds to something bigger: something we did not see that was right in front of us. Something bigger than our small self-centered world.  It uses emotion, intellect and truth to paint a picture of someone that is selflessly living and serving beyond himself.

2. Ram Trucks – “Farmer” (2013)

Here at Live Curious we believe our lives should be full of emotion, intellect and truth. We believe we should use our words as art to inspire people to live their lives for something bigger and beyond themselves.

As followers of Jesus we have come to realize and accept that our normal, everyday lives are indeed advertisements for the sake of Christ. And we unapologetically want to stand out, be noticed, turn heads and get people talking just like a Super Bowl ad.

The difference is that all our promoting, supporting, and endorsing should be to make Jesus more visible and famous, not ourselves.

Matthew 5:14-16 – You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Why do we want to be memorable?
So that we can stand out?
NO.

The reason we stand out as Christians is so that people “may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

A follower of Jesus should live a curious life.

Your life should be strange, unique, odd, outstanding and therefore appear curious to this world. Again, the purpose for entering curious conversations and instigating a curious lifestyle is not to draw attention to ourselves. The goal is to cause people to be curious about the way you live so that they will ask questions, thus providing opportunities to talk about Jesus. May you live curiously this week, my friends, and make Jesus more famous in your part of this world.
